What can I juice in my juicer to lose weight? What juice has the least calories?

Posted on June 25th, 2010, by

I just bought a Jack LaLaine Juicer and have been wondering what I can juice to lose weight. And which juice has the least calories. I need to lose some weight for a weight loss contest and thought juicing would help. What do you suggest I juice to help with the weight loss?

Reduce your intake of pork. Pork is not something that can help you to lose weight. So the lesser pork you eat the better chances you have of losing weight. And remember that pork includes the pork products as well, things like bacon, ham and sausages. Watch your fat intake. Each fat gram contains 9 calories so by reading the total calories on a food and knowing the quantity of fat, you can estimate the % of fat, which should in no way exceed 30% of the food.

The juice is going to be pretty much the same as eating the fruit, as long as you don’t add a bunch of sugar to it and drink it pure.

If you want to lose weight for your challenge, eat smaller portions and exercise often. No need to do something crazy like an all-juice diet (which would likely cause you to gain weight, not lose) — I know that’s not what you’re doing but it’s something to keep in mind.

Stick to veggies. Fruit juices (although fruit is good for you) pack too much sugar. Consider the amount of fruit juice you would consume by eating the fruit and how much you consume by drinking the juice. The difference is almost 4 times which means you’re getting 4 times the sugar!

I experiment a lot with veggies in my juicer and simply come up with veggie cocktails that are delicious. Also, try to resist the urge to sweeten your veggie juices, but if you must sweeten them, use a little Agave nectar or Stevia since those are natural plant-based sweeteners.

Good luck. I hope you win the contest!!!

There are tons of calories in juice. Think about it for a sec, 85 calories in an orange, how many oranges do you need to make a glass?

If you want low cal juice go for veggie juice. Put some berries in it for better flavor but personally, still…yuk.

For weight loss I suggest you eat a balanced diet and exercise. I also suggest doing it for yourself, not a contest. You want it to last don’t you?

Vegetables, if you could stand the flavors and looks. If you want fruit, try mango or kiwi. Star fruit is also an excellent choice and perfect if combined with melon. Personally, I still think that consuming whole vegetables and fruits are the best as you won’t miss any dietary fiber good for your diet.

Fats should only be 15 to 20 %. You need only this much of fat in your diet so keep it at that.High Fiber multigrain breads are better than white breads. Remember how I told you to increase the fiber content in your food; well this is the answer to that. It is not only better in terms of the fiber content but also in terms of the protein content as well.

Have you tried Maguary Cashew Juice? It only has 10 calories per serving.

The best produce would be green leafy vegetables… stuff like wheat grass, spinach, kale, etc. Herbs like parsley are also great but pretty strong. However, I would recommend a masticating juicer to juice these because it’s simply the best way with leafy veggies and produces the most juice. BUT you have a LaLaine, so you probably won’t want to spring for another juicer.

In this case, try juicing them by wrapping them around or wedging them between the produce that is more easily juiced by the LaLaine (carrots, apples, celery, etc).

Plants that are easily juiced by the LaLaine and low calorie would be: celery, bok choy, endive, cabbage.

For weight loss I would recommend things with a low glycemic load. By juicing certain fibrous foods the juice is left with a high concentration of sugar. A good example would be carrots. So the best options in this case would be: Cantaloupe (high water content), berries are pretty low glycemic, grapefruit, etc.

    Hope this helps!
