How fast does nutrition fade from fresh juice from a home juicer?

Posted on April 20th, 2010, by

Love using my juicer but cant be pulling it out and going through the whole process for 1 or 2 glasses each time. I make a whole pitcher full which last 3 or 4 days. But I have heard the nutritional value depletes rather quickly. I would like to know how fast. Even if it depletes by 50%
that would be OK with me because it would still be better than other foods.

Look at it this way… having fresh juice is better than not having any at all.

As long as you’re keeping your pitcher covered (less air flow), you should be fine… 50% decrease sounds like a lot… based upon what I’ve read it ranges from 10% to 30%.

The fresher your juice, the more nutritious it will be.

I know with wheatgrass juice it is recommended to drink it within 15-30 minutes of juicing, as its nutritional value can decrease the more time that lapses. http://www.healthbanquet.com/wheatgrass-juice-dosage.html
