How do I use a hand juicer?

This may seem like a stupid question, but I just bought a hand juicer and I have never used one.
Obviously, I know I cut the fruit in half first. Do I put the fruit in face down in order to get the most juice or do I put it in where it fits nice and easy?
I bought it at Meijer, but all it had was a little plastic cover showing the product title.

Can’t add anything to the answer you got in the "V&V" category – she has given you excellent instructions & hints!
Just curious, tho – did you buy this at a thrift store or a yard sale? Why were there no instructions?
